Films of November

November was a tough month for me personally. And precisely because of that I wasn’t able to watch as many movies as I would have wanted to. I’m not complaining though. Personal life always trumps internet life. Haha.

The Social Network (5/5). The Facebook movie. A half-fact, half-fiction classic about the founders of Facebook particularly the genius behind it. It is a terrific film. A talk-a-thon and not a single second is boring. David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin are gods. Hands down, my most favorite film of the year thus far.

Let Me In (4/5). A Hollywood remake of one of my favorite films of 2010 – Sweden’s Let The Right One In. The Hollywood version is scarier and louder than the original which tells the story between a budding romance (or is it?) between a young boy and a vampire. The remake is a pretty good one but I like the original better.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (4.5/5). This is one of my favorite Harry Potter film adaptations. I like the musical score. The wide-angle shots. The additional scenes that were not in the book. The animation sequence explaining the deathly hallows history. Helena Bonham Carter. Ralph Fiennes. Alan Rickman. And the first few sequences of the almost 2-hour movie.

My Amnesia Girl (4/5). Jessica Zafra’s review of the film is right-on. The first half of the movie is hilarious. A breath of fresh hair for a locally-made romantic comedy movie. There are tender scenes within the movie particularly that lengthy and honestly painful conversation at the waiting shed. Unsurprisingly, I didn’t dig the ending. Parang naubusan na ng ideas ang manunulat at yun na lang ang naisip nila.
